Back to school time.
Back to school time in this family.
On the walk to school, the kids cut through our local park. They seemed very intent on getting to school early today. They were 25 mins early. Don’t think that will happen again anytime soon!
The kids are growing up so fast. Jackson has been taller than Tracey for a few months already. Maria appears to be the tallest in her class. Sigh.

Portrait seminar
Really enjoyed this seminar by Brian Smith on “celebrity portraiture.” While technical talent is required, so too is the ability to relate to people and draw them out. Perhaps far more important than f-stops and exposure.

Fall colors
The fall colors in Ottawa this year have been splendid. Not only did they start early, they’ve been especially vibrant and long lasting. The drive along the Ottawa river is a treat every day. The yellows appear almost fluorescent in the early morning light. I’ve been doing my best to enjoy it while it lasts.
Too bad winter will follow this glorious season. 🙁

Moraine lake in Banff

Last August, Tracey and I went on a vacation to Banff. Stayed at Johnston Canyon Resort. Nice place! Woke up early, and drove the rental car 45 mins to Moraine Lake to take sunrise shots. This is the best one, an HDR image.

Believe this one was from a seperate morning. Had to try a few times to get good weather for the lake. It’s not like I’ll be there again anytime soon! After attempts (like above) from the rock pile, I came down by the hotel, and took this shot of the canoes for rent. Still morning on the water. Very quiet.
The scratch pad
A place to put something a little more permanent than email …
